National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology convened the Kaohsiung Long-Chain Vocational and Technical Education Alliance meeting with Kaohsiung City Government and representatives from vocational high schools, colleges and universities to connect local technical education more closely with urban industrial development. The alliance concept links student progression, professional training, internships and employment so that education in Kaohsiung can form a more complete local talent-development pathway for the city’s industries. The participating higher-education institutions named in the material include Shu-Te University, Cheng Shiu University and Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, alongside National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. The university has long promoted University Social Responsibility by bringing teaching, research and technical capabilities into local communities. Its Ministry of Education fourth-phase University Social Responsibility project, Sustainable Coastal Regeneration: the Provincial Highway 17 Fishing Village Practice Project, focuses on coastal fishing villages along Provincial Highway 17 in Kaohsiung, including Yong’an, Mituo and Ziguan. Two representative outcomes from that project received silver awards in the 2026 fifth APSAA Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards and the 2026 sixth TSAA Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards. Those USR outcomes cover work from marine environmental education to the net-zero transition of the aquaculture industry, showing how the university applies teaching, research and technology in coastal settings. The university also signed an industry-academia cooperation memorandum with Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. to combine NKUST engineering technology and practical talent-development capacity with the company’s global industrial deployment. The cooperation uses student scholarships, talent cultivation and industry-academia exchange to prepare a new generation of engineering talent with professional skills, practical ability and international perspective. The stated objectives are to support Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd.’s U.S. deployment with a stronger talent base and to give NKUST students more career opportunities connected to the global manufacturing industry.
Company profile
National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology was established in 2018 through the integration of three technological universities in southern Taiwan, and the university describes itself as the largest technological university in the nation.
